But, without further delay...

Meet Darklighter...

     You are strolling through a forest on the outskirts of Dream Valley, when suddenly you realize it is getting darker and darker. Your map is of no use---the blackness around you makes it impossible to read. How could you have been in the land of sunshine and rainbows just a moment ago and be so helplessly lost in the dark the next? You keep walking but you get the general idea that the further you wander, the more black and creepy things will become. Your heart begins to hammer inside your chest. What could be lurking in the trees that you can't even see five feet in front of you?

     You hear the snap of a twig behind you, and the rustling of leaves.

     "Hello!" a soft voice pipes out of the darkness.
     Suddenly you are bathed in a warm whitish light. A thin, blue-eyed unicorn briskly steps out from between two tree trunks, her small horn glowing with an almost blinding radiance.
     She smiles, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "I hope I didn't scare you. I'm Darklighter. My job is to see lost travelers safely out of the dark parts of the forest."
     As she steps toward you, you see her in full view, thanks to the shimmering glow radiatiing from her magical horn. A pretty sky blue is her body, her mane and tail a rich royal purple. A blue strip is in her mane, possibly from age, possibly an individual marking. She has a prominent single star symbol on her hindquarters.

   Then, her pale eyes take on a determined look, her brows furrowing. She steps toward you, and then she snaps into action. She lowers her head, shining the beam from her horn directly at you as if it were a flashlight. Instinctively, you step out of the unicorn's way.You are surprised to see her trot right past you and look over her shoulder, almost in an irritated fashion.   

   "Come along, come along," she urges. "I must see you on your way and go back to find others." You follow along beside her as she trots determinedly along, looking ahead, but still glancing back periodically to make sure you are still close by. Darklighter is a loner, but still keeps a considerable concern over her charges. She escorts you to the bright,sunny glade at the exterior of the forest.

   She gives you a little nudge with her head.
     "Run along now. Be safe."

   You walk back into the warm, sunny radiance of Dream Valley. Blue skies. Sunshine. Birds flitting about. No darkness.

   "Farewell, young one."

    You look back and watch as she turns to go back into her forest alone, to help another lost wanderer and make the darkness light again.
